About Us

Who We Are / What We Believe

From the beginning of Jesus’s ministry throughout the rest of the New Testament, it is clear that the disciples of Jesus were given a mission. What was that mission? Our church has tried to capture this message in three statements:

Elevate God. Embrace a shared life. Engage the broken world.

This mission is our focus, and we invite everyone to join us in living it. If you would like to learn more about our mission,

Our Mission

Elevate God.

God created the heavens and the earth (Gen. 1:1). God rules over all the earth (Ps. 103:19). Since God is the Creator and the Ruler of the world, we want our lives to reflect how big and glorious He really is. We strive to make God the center of every aspect of our lives: our worship, our families, our jobs, etc. Our church elevates God is through our Sunday worship. We praise Him, pray to Him, listen to His Word, and share in the Lord’s supper to remember what God did for us through His Son, Jesus Christ.

Embrace a shared life.

The church in Acts was marked by shared lives. Early in Acts, the church met together everyday. They learned and discussed God’s Word. And they shared their possessions with those in need. (Acts 2:42-47) We want to share a common life with one another, just like the early church did. To do this, we meet together on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights for Bible classes. We also have small groups that meet on Sunday nights in members’ homes. And we have frequent meals and celebrations that allow us to spend more time together.

Engage the broken world.

Jesus was not sent to the healthy, but to the sick and broken (Mark 2:17). He ministered to the poor, the sick, the handicapped, the oppressed, and to those separated from God by their sins (Luke 4:18-19). We want to live like Jesus. That means sharing in His mission to a broken world. We don’t want our church’s efforts to be confined to a church building. Rather we want to take God’s message of hope, love, and grace to a world broken by sin. Some of the ways we do this is our benevolence ministry, supporting foreign missionaries, and serving refugee families in Bowling Green, KY.
